My orientation

I am a person centred counsellor who qualified in July 2007. Person centred counsellors value the quality of the relationship itself and as a catalyst for therapeutic change. We work with the core conditions which include empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence. I specialise in working with children who have additional needs.

Background

I have spent 13 years working in care, from a support worker working up to being a deputy manager in a childrens home helping profoundly disabled children. During this time I trained as a counsellor and qualified after four and a half years training in 2007. During my training I worked in a GP surgery with adults and then a special school in Letchworth where I worked for over 10 years. I have also worked in a special school that supports children with emotional behaviour difficulties. I spend my time working privately and in various schools. I have also seen staff therapeutically at schools. I also manage another practice with a team of over 20 therapists which I love.

I have also volunteered through the years including working in a maternity unit, pre- school special needs group, a number of schools both primary and senior. I have been a NHS first responder. At the moment I am also a events committee member at my childrens school, helping to organise fun events for all the pupils to enjoy.
